                        Presbyterian Women 2011

Presbyterian Women
(P.W.) meets at the church the first Wednesday of each month (excluding June, July and August) at 9:30 am in the Rose Room for informal coffee and business meeting. All female members of the church are members of Presbyterian Women and are invited, and encouraged, to attend these meetings. Officers are:  Carol Ganzeveld, Moderator; Diane Kraft, Vice moderator and Secretary/Historian, and Sandra Stevenson, Treasurer.

Our Purpose:  "Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:  to nuture our faith through prayer and Bible study; to support the mission of the church worldwide; to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

Guided by the P.W. purpose, Presbyterian Women models itself around building inclusiveness, working for justice and peace, participating in mission and nurturing faith.

Presbyterian Women have a mission, a voice and a place in the church. They began 200 years ago when the first Presbyterian women gathered to pray and donate their hard earned pennies (Least Coin Offering) to the church. These women continue to take Christ into every area of life.

A joint World Day of Prayer worship service, held in March, is led by women of this church and the United Methodist Church of Goldfield. The first Sunday in November is designated as Thank Offering Sunday. The women lead the service, which features a mission speaker, and the Thank Offering - which meets crucial needs for persons who are hurting, and funds hospitals and health ministries - is received. Presbyterian Women also participate in the Least Coin and Birthday offerings.

A Bake Sale is held in May, and they host a Pie and Ice Cream Stand during Goldfield's Fountain City Weekend in August.

Throughout the year. Presbyterian Women and the Circles, support many local Social Service organizations with collected items and monetary donations.
